KWH Constructors is a structural erection company that is based in the Pacific Northwest. We have a construction engineering division, Somerset Engineering. KWH and Somerset are experts in the challenging field of complex installations for buildings, bridges, material handling, pre-stressed concrete, and unique structures. Our friendly team of engineers and field crews can bring an incredible wealth of knowledge to your project team to enhance and provide an invaluable service for your project and its ultimate success.

KWH’s value added services include: lifting equipment operation, field erection services, seismic retrofits of bridges and buildings, port facilities maintenance and the installation of precast/pre-stressed concrete. KWH was originally formed on the strength of the construction engineering expertise provided by its engineering division, Somerset Engineering, combined with a close relationship with the ironworker trade and steel fabrications shops. With this engineering expertise in-house, KWH has established an enviable reputation on the West Coast and beyond to become a leader in the field. This has resulted into a wide portfolio of construction achievements. Our expertise in steel erection can provide the extra leverage for the successful construction of any structural project.

KWH is founded on the construction engineering expertise provided by our present day subsidiary, Somerset Engineering.

Peter Saunderson founded Somerset in 1981 to provide construction engineering to a few select clients. In 1984, Jeff Mullins joined him on the Alex Fraser Bridge site, teaming up to provide the scheme to PCL for the superstructure and cable erection. The project was a huge success so after completion in 1986, Jeff joined Somerset as a full partner. Somerset’s client list expanded to include many large General Contractors throughout North America. Services included erection estimates for labor and equipment, erection schemes and erection site supervision. In 1989, they took the next step to perform erection services themselves through KWH Constructors. In 1997, KWH opened an office in the Seattle area to expand our services into the United States. Since then, KWH has grown in strength and reputation within Canada and the U.S. to become a leader in challenging and technical erection projects. Both senior partners have over 50 years of direct, hands-on construction experience. From our structural engineers to our construction superintendents and field supervisors, the KWH team knows steel and precast erection from start to finish. We are an engineered erector and installer of bridges, machinery, heavy equipment and complex steel and precast structures.
