Audain Art Museum

This 60,000 sq ft private art museum is built among the trees at the popular ski-resort of Whistler-Blackcomb. This “fast track”, 900 ton all steel structure, is elevated one story above the ground on 6 rows of steel “bents” and the concrete cores. KWH, along with the steel fabricator, was brought in early on as a design/assist contractor with a GMP contract. All the steelwork was shop drawn in house by Somerset and they provided all the connections design. KWH also installed the steel decking for the floors. This project is the first ever to incorporate the “Scorpion” seismic inhibiting brace system.
