Equatorial Guinea LNG Suspension Bridge
Location: Equatorial Guinea Contract Value: $10M
LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) developments are booming in Equatorial Guinea, West Africa. Bechtel International was contracted to build a $1.4B plant to produce 4.5M Tons of LNG per year. KWH was selected from an extensive RFQ as a subcontractor to erect the 1,150-foot pipeline suspension bridge over an unstable slope to a loading jetty. A full Canadian crew of skilled ironworkers was employed at this remote site. KWH began by designing & building all the specialized erection equipment like the “Hiline,” a special purpose 40-Ton capacity cableway. Each erection step was carefully analyzed and planned before any equipment left for Africa. The entire job saw zero LTA or recordable injuries — a total of 48,777 on-site hours.
