Westshore Surge Bin

KWH was contracted by Westmar Consultants to replace the existing surge bin at Westshore’s coal loader terminal all during a planned 14 day shut-down. The old bin was demolished and replaced with 110 tons worth of the new bin and support structure. The original design called for a welded seam to connect the upper and lower sections of the bin. KWH proposed a bolted flange connection, which was incorporated into the fabrication and saved precious time in this shutdown. The result on changing details and careful planning resulted in the shutdown being completed 2 days early.
